As many across the globe remember the lasting legacy of reggae music icon Bob Marley on this day of his unfortunate passing, Cash Money singer Jay Sean has recorded a moving cover of one of Marley's most famous songs "Waiting In Vain" and the British-Indian singer delivers an impressive rendition of the classic.

Blessed with a pop-ready voice, Jay Sean doesn't embellish much vocally from the Marley version of the song and the romantic gestures present in the original track remain present. Jay Sean confirms the global impact of Bob Marley's music, and has named the reggae singer as an idol of his. "Bob Marley has been one of my biggest musical influences since I was a little kid," said Jay Sean. "I remember going through a massive Bob Marley phase where I bought every album I could get my hands on."

Jay Sean also explained why he decided to cover this particular song. "His music is so unique because somehow he manages to deliver the most powerful messages through his lyrics via beautiful and relaxing melodies. He is one of the most important and influential songwriters that ever lived and an artist that really stood for something. He defines the power of music. I covered "Waiting in Vain" because it is an amazing paradox, its beautifully painful and lyrically and melodically brilliant; I hope I did it justice."

Set to release his latest album Freeze Time this July, Jay Sean is currently working the second single of his upcoming album "Hit The Lights" which features Young Money head honcho Lil Wayne. Jay Sean has confirmed that his album will also feature diva Nicki Minaj and R&B legend Mary J. Blige.
